Our client, an energy trading company, is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to make their backend systems more reliable and scalable. You will work in a test-driven, AI-assisted environment where agentic coding tools are part of daily development. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with deep Go experience, strong system design skills and a track record of building high-throughput, low-latency systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design scalable backend systems and services with a focus on performance, maintainability and security
Use AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI to speed up delivery and raise code quality
Turn business requirements into clear technical specifications that AI agents can execute
Review pull requests from developers and AI agents
Work with product managers, frontend developers and other stakeholders on business-critical features
Champion test-driven development and automated test coverage
Build and maintain relational, key-value and time-series databases
Apply security best practices and address vulnerabilities and compliance requirements
Monitor and improve latency, throughput, scalability and resource efficiency
Mentor other developers on the team

Required Skills

Required Skills

• 10+ years of backend development, including architecture and system design.

• Strong Go skills; Rust is a plus.

• Experience tuning performance in high-throughput, low-latency systems.

• Database schema design and optimisation.

• Solid knowledge of distributed systems and high data throughput.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

• Experience with TDD and CI/CD pipelines.

• Knowledge of security practices such as OWASP and secure coding.

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native environments, including Kubernetes, containers and service meshes.

• Excellent English.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Shopify Plus stores.

Knowledge of Node.js and backend integrations.

Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, or Strapi.

Familiarity with Google Analytics, GTM, SEO, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).

Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Experience working in distributed or cross-functional teams.

Key Deliverables

End-to-end implementation and maintenance of Shopify storefronts.

Development of both Hydrogen and Liquid-based eCommerce experiences.

Custom theme development, enhancement, and optimization.

High-performing, scalable, and conversion-focused online shopping experiences.

Reliable integration of third-party applications and enterprise systems.

Continuous improvement of site performance, usability, and customer experience.
